CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon - Wingham

The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation is hoping to raise $60,000 to help purchase some new technology.    The foundation is part of this Saturday's CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon.

A scope navigation system is one of the newest medical tools on the market and OR registered nurse Ashley Schnur said it can be a big benefit to doctors and patients.

"This equipment can be used daily and it is doctor referenced to who would benefit from using the scope navigation system. It will allow us to have a better visual with a live view," said Schnur. "This could possibly reduce procedure time for patients."

Schnur said the scope navigation system is a live 3D image of the pathway that the scope takes as it passes through the bowel.

"This image is displayed on the corner of the monitor and is continuously moving to adjust to show the shape and the position inside the patient's bowel," said Schnur.
