CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon - Seaforth

Saturday October 20th is our CKNX Health Care Heros Radiothon to help raise money for local hospitals so they can continue to run well just like the Seaforth hospital.
they are looking to raise Fifty thousand dollars towards year 2 of the 5 year capital equipment project. Dr. Heather Percival says that they wouldn't be able to practice medicine without the new digital x-ray machine.
"it's one of the, probably one of the most vital pieces of equipment you know there is a lot of talk about the high fluent fancy MRI and CT scans but really the day to day medical imaging is still an x-ray and it tells you things like broken bones it tells you of you ammonia so it's a very vital piece that we just couldn't practice medicine without it."
Percival adds that the image quality of the x-ray machine is more precise.
" The beauty of all the digital imaging though is they are compartmentalized and they can go all over internet so if i have a patient who i am seeing in seaforth whose from Windsor i can pull up their x-ray of their broken arm three weeks ago and compare it to the x-ray i have in front of me."
She continues to say people need to know that the vital upgrades for hospitals are not covered by the government.
" People don't really realize the day to day spending in a hospital is covered by the government but the equipment and the updates that are so vital are not covered so we have to fund raise and make long range plan to relpace things so that we can still function."
