Police arrested a Hanover man after a short standoff at an apartment building Friday morning.

Hanover police responded to a call just before 9am on Friday to a reported break and enter in the 500-block of 10th Ave.

When officers arrived, they found the male suspect was still inside and had crawled into an attic space located in the apartment to evade his arrest. With help from West Grey police, officers secured the area.

Shortly after 10am, Hanover officers arrested Cory McCarthy, 34, of no fixed address. He was also wanted on a warrant for sexual assault, criminal harassment and assault.

The investigation is still ongoing.
