Port Elgin Man Dies In Collision

A crash in the Township of Chatsworth took the life of a 36-year-old Port Elgin man

On July 2, 2018, at approximately 5:15pm, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Grey Rd. 3 and Grey Rd. 40.

The investigation revealed that a Ford vehicle travelling eastbound on Grey Rd. 40 towards Grey Rd. 3 collided with a Mercedes vehicle travelling southbound on Grey Rd. 3.

The lone driver of the Ford, 36-year-old Robert Bradley Hillis, of Port Elgin, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending physician.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled today in Owen Sound.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 68-year-old man, and a 66-year-old female passenger, both from Etobicoke, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Grey Bruce Paramedic Services, Bruce County Paramedics, the Chatsworth Fire Department, and South Bruce OPP assisted at the scene.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators continue to investigate the collision.
