Unoccupied Car Hits An Owen Sound Hydro Pole

Drivers may want to check their vehicle transmissions before parking on a slope.

Owen Sound police say they responded to a call Sunday morning about a vehicle that had struck a hydro pole.

It happened shortly before 11am on 10th St. E and 11th Ave. E.

Acting Sergeant Patrick Rawn says the driver of the 2017 Volkswagen parked it on a driveway, but accidentally left the vehicle in neutral instead of park.

As a result, the Volkswagen rolled backwards down a slope and struck the hydro pole. The pole stopped the car's progress and prevented it from going into the street and causing more damage and potential human injury.

The pole suffered significant damage. A crew from Hydro One was called, and the pole was still being worked on early Sunday evening.

The driver was not charged. There were no injuries.
