The executive director of Huron Women's Shelter hopes to bring more awareness to reduce domestic violence.
Susan Dill says domestic-violence-related deaths average about 30 a year, and the numbers are not going down.
She says every member of the community needs to be vigilant
Dill says the community has to take some responsibility for connecting people in need, "to learn the signs of abuse, to be vigilant and report abuse when it happens, and to be aware that 24/7 help is available through the crisis line."

Dill says they shelter and second stage housing apartments in the county are often over capacity as domestic violence continues to be a prevalent problem. However, she says they will always find a safe place for victims.
