Police say the circumstances surrounding a death investigation near Vanastra are suspicious.
OPP and members of the Huron County Paramedic Service responded to Front Rd. just north of Vanastra after someone discovered a body near the road just before noon Thursday. OPP have confirmed that the body is that of 27-year-old Laura Wigelsworth of Vanastra. Wigelsworth was reported missing Thursday after not returning home from a walk Wednesday night.
The Huron County OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and West Region Emergency Response Team are part of the investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Wright of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. A post-mortem is being conducted to assist in finding the cause of death.
A section of Front Rd. between 5th Ave. in Vanastra to Huron Rd., Hwy. 8, remains closed for the investigation.
