Police Seek Suspect After Armed Robbery Attempt At Exeter Variety

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in Exeter.

At around 7:50pm on Tuesday, a lone masked male entered into Exeter Variety located on Wellington St. W. Once inside the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money from the cash register. At that point, a fight took place and resulted in the owner suffering minor injuries. Ultimately, the suspect's demands were not met and he fled the store heading west on Wellington St. The suspect was then seen getting into the passenger side of a Ford Ranger pickup truck, which sped off at a high rate of speed heading north on William St.

Despite extensive patrols in the area, police have been unable to locate the vehicle.

OPP Forensic Identification Services later attended the scene to help with the investigation.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 5' 7" to 6', with a medium build, long dark hair, wearing a burgundy hoodie, baggy pants and a black ski mask with white stripes.

The suspect vehicle is described as a grey or tan coloured two-door 2005 Ford Ranger pickup truck with garbage in the rear box, and licence plate AL50723.

The OPP say the public should avoid the occupants if the vehicle is spotted, and should instead call police.
