Grey County Spending Up $1.4M
Grey County Council has approved the 2017 budget which increases spending by $1.4-million.
The increase will be covered through new assessment growth, and a tax rate hike of 1.8%.
For an average property assessed at $250,000, that means an increase of about $16 for the county portion of their taxes.
The budget includes a new ambulance base in Chatsworth, funding for Chapman House hospice, funding for transportation (Movin’GB), more money for roads, and the development of a recreational plan for forests and trails.
“We’re pleased to have set a responsible budget that maintains overall service levels, addresses capital projects and aging infrastructure, and enhances services where they matter most in our community,” said Grey County Warden Alan Barfoot. “Every year there are challenges and competing needs. I congratulate county council and staff for working together and balancing the needs of the community.”
He adds the county is investing in the projects and initiatives that make the region a better place to live, work and play.
