Brockton's CAO is recommending the inclusion of electronic voting for the 2018 municipal election.
Changes to the Municipal Elections Act require municipalities to adopt alternate voting methods by next May.
In 2014, the election cost Brockton around $32,000. A report to council says an evote only system would have cost about $21,000.
Brockton Council will consider the alternatives Monday evening, including an electronic vote, vote by mail, paper vote or a combined system.
Alternative voting methods have been a subject of controversy for the present Brockton council.
A meeting coming up this month will showcase several different online and telephone voting software applications for a group of Bruce County Municipalities.
Grey County is looking at a full County wide electronic vote system, with Owen Sound already committed to electronic voting.
