Port Elgin Kisses For Kyleigh Fundraiser To Share the Love with Baby Lydia

The Town of Saugeen Shores really is the Town of Saugeen Shares.

As 5-month-old Kyleigh Buckton of Port Elgin recovers at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children following successful heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect earlier this week, the community is taking the love and support a step further.

Another local girl, 5-month-old Lydia Caven, was also born with congenital heart defects and will also be facing a tough battle ahead as she undergoes heart surgery in Toronto.

5-month-old Lydia Caven of Saugeen Shores was also born with congenital heart defects that will require delicate surgery. 5-month-old Lydia Caven of Saugeen Shores was also born with congenital heart defects that will require delicate surgery.

Farley Ring, Kyleigh’s aunt and the driving force behind the Kisses For Kyleigh Fundraiser set to take place later next month, says reaching out to the Caven’s was just the right thing to do.

“I actually know the Mom and know that she’s probably going through a lot of the same things that Brent and Kristy (Buckton) were going through so we just thought it was the right thing to do because she is part of Saugeen Shores,” says Ring. “We’re going to split the proceeds between both of the families so that it helps both of them with lost wages, expenses and time so that they can spend it with their daughters.”

While a separate Go Fund Me Account has been set for Lydia Caven and her family, the upcoming fundraiser event at the Lakeshore Recreation & Banquet Facility on November 18 in Port Elgin will benefit both of the families whose little girls face tough battles at such a young and tender age.

Admission to the fundraiser event will be by donation.

So far, the Kisses For Kyleigh Go Fund Me Account has raised $19,120 as of Friday afternoon.

The Love You More Lydia Go Fund Me Account has raised $7,225 as of Friday afternoon.
