Historic Production Coming To Goderich

Theatre goers and history buffs are in for a unique experience this Saturday night at the Livery Theatre in Goderich.

Sinead Cox is a co-director with Staging Our Histories and they're presenting a collection of four stories on stage in a production called "Unharvested Histories in Huron County."

Cox explains the stories are historical events from Huron County that didn't quite make it into the history books.

She also points out passing historical events on through dance or film is not as new as it might seem because before print came along, story-telling was the traditional vehicle for recording history.

The Staging Our Histories Group recently became an international theatre group with a performance in India after starting at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa last year.  They followed that with a performance at Huron College in London.

More information on Saturday's performance can be found on the Staging Our Histories web site.

Tickets for Saturday are available at the Huron County Museum.

Cox explains the Staging Our Histories group was formed by four graduates of the Public History program at Carleton University who shared a common interested in presenting not-so-common historical events on stage.
