A familiar face will be taking over the position of acting Medical Officer of Health for Huron County.
Perth County's Medical Officer of Health Doctor Miriam Klassen had assumed the position following the departure of Doctor Janice Owen.
Hessel explains they had considered advertising for an MOH on a longer term basis but the Provincial Medical Officer of Health advised against that at this time.
Hessel says Doctor Maarten Bokhout, who was the Medical Officer of Health for Huron County in the 1990's and more recently the acting MOH has agreed to come back to help out and will assume the acting Medical Officer of Health position on June 16th until October 18th, 2016.
Hessel adds they've also requested an interview with the Provincial MOH to help guide them through the next few months and determine if a merger with the Perth Health Unit is viable.
