Sustainable Projects Outlined For Huron County

Huron County Planning Director Scott Tousaw presented county council with an update on the activities of the Sustainable Huron Steering Committee.

Tousaw explained the committee is a multi-sector community based committee that meets three or four times a year and makes recommendations on priority projects that would be of benefit to the county from a sustainability perspective.

He says the committee had previously identified eleven projects and he informed council today that all of those projects have either been completed or substantially started, and are now on their own.

He presented council with a list of 15 possible projects identified by the committee in 2015.

Tousaw says the list is not carved in stone but recommends that community organizations and agencies consider the projects as priorities.

The list includes projects that relate to eco-system health, economic development, social housing and a variety of other projects.

Huron County council endorsed the list of new projects at Wednesday's meeting.
