Bridges Closed In Meaford Amid Safety Concerns

The Municipality of Meaford has closed three of its bridges until further notice.

Transportation Department Director Darcy Chapman says the municipality closed Fraser’s Bridge and the Twin Bridges Friday morning because of safety concerns.

Frasers Bridge is on Concession B in the northwest section of the municipality.

The Twin Bridges are single-lane bridges that span Walter’s Creek on the Holland-Sydenham Townline.

Chapman says the bridge closures are the result of a recommendation from Meaford’s Bridge State of the Infrastructure report.

He adds that staff with Meaford’s transportation services have given out notices about the closure to residents living near the bridges. Staff have also placed signs to indicate detours for all who travel along the roads affected by the closures.

The information includes maps of the affected areas and recommended detour routes.

The three bridges will remain closed until further notice.
