Morris-Turnberry's Mayor Calls 2015 Productive

2015 was a busy and very productive year for Morris-Turnberry. Mayor Paul Gowing says they've moved ahead on a number of fronts. He points to the Wingham and Area Industrial Land Strategy that is now in place and gives both municipalities shovel-ready land for industrial development. He adds a cross-border servicing agreement with North Huron was another success story. Gowing adds Morris-Turnberry approved a new Economic Development Strategic Plan in December and that sets out specific goals as well as an action plan outlining how they can reach those goals. Gowing says the municipality has also installed new high-efficiency LED street lighting which will save a significant amount of money and pay for themselves over a relatively short period of time.

Gowing adds 2015 was not without its challenges and like most small and rural municipalities Morris-Turnberry struggled to address the issues of increased OPP policing costs and cuts to Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding.
