Parking An Ongoing Problem in Parts of North Huron

Parking in North Huron was a hot topic at Monday night's Council Meeting.

For one Wingham resident, finding adequate parking at her rented Alfred Street apartment building has been an ongoing issue.

North Huron Councillor Trevor Seip says he is aware of the parking problem in many areas of North Huron, he says it's nothing new.

"It's been a problem over years, it's not been just this year, it's been a consistent issue prior to me being a Councillor," says Seip.

North Huron Council agreed that there is indeed a problem when it comes to parking in some areas, and that further discussion needs to take place.

Councillor Seip adds the real issue is that Wingham and other areas of North Huron have both home owners and renters.

"The biggest concern that we have is that we have not only homeowners here but we have renters, and that's the biggest concern is that these renters should have the same rights to park that a homeowner does because they're paying for rent," says Councillor Seip.

Seip says further discussion is needed, he says it's about everybody; everybody needs to be in the discussion and everybody needs to come up with solutions.
