Goderich Historian Seeks Support For Marine Museum Expansion

A Goderich author and historian has asked Goderich council for moral support for a new Marine Heritage Museum along the shoreline.

Paul Carroll explains their proposal calls for a marine heritage resource centre which would retain the existing wheelhouse and expand it in a way that allows it to tell the whole story of the Huron County shoreline.

Carroll estimates the cost of the project at about $1.5 million but says it's very early so that is just an estimate.

He adds he's not looking for any money from the town at this point, but says they need a commitment of support from both the town and the county before they can proceed.

He also suggests the expanded Marine Heritage Museum would bring economic and tourism benefits to both the town and the county.

He plans to make a presentation to Huron County council in the near future.
