Avon Maitland Students to Experience Taiwan

40 students from the Avon Maitland District School Board have a chance to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Taipei, Taiwan next year.

Since 2012, the Avon Maitland School Board's International Program has been involved in welcoming International Students as well as sending local students abroad.

"We've had a number of these over the last few years, we had an exchange trip with 16 Grade 7 students with some students in Berlin, Germany and for three years now we've been sending 40 students in the summer to Italy for three weeks and this is just another one of those opportunities except in a very different place that not many people would think about, Taipei, Taiwan," says Steve Howe, who heads up the International Program.

Students from Grades 8 through to Grade 12 will have the chance to be a part of the trip, with about 8 students per grade.

"There will be a cost, however, there will also be the possibility where students may be eligible for bursaries, payment plans and other things," adds Howe.

A Parent/Student Information Session will take place this Coming Thursday (November 19th) at Mitchell District High School beginning at 7:00pm.

The application deadline is Monday, November 30th.
