UPDATE: OPP Names Passengers On Missing Wingham-Based Helicopter

Updated at 2:30pm:

The OPP has identified two people missing in northeastern Ontario in an overdue helicopter based out of Wingham.

South Porcupine OPP says Jeremie Belanger, 24, of Kapuskasing, and Ken Mielke, 41, of Kitchener were on board.

The search continues for the helicopter, which left Horwood Lake Camp at 8:30pm on Tuesday, September 8, to travel about 10 km southwest.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton has two hercules aircraft involved in the search, and civilian aircraft are  also assisting.

Officials say the helicopter was equipped with an electronic locator transmitter, but so far no signal has been detected.

The Robinson R-44 helicopter is owned by Wingham-based APEX Helicopters.
