United Way Perth Huron Sets Fundraising Goals

It's the largest goal ever, $4-million in the next three years.

The United Way of Huron Perth held a news conference Friday afternoon to unveil fundraising goals both for the next year and the next three years.

Over $1-million will be raised in the next year to support community programs for children and those in need.

Campaign chairman Andrew Williams believes the goal is attainable and that the community will come together to make it happen.

"The community steps up when we announce our goals and its a really well thought out number based on the needs that we think exist across this region," says Williams. "It's going to be a challenge and we're going to have to work hard obviously and we have to make sure people understand that every dollar that they donate is going to go and benefit the communities in which they live and work."

Members of the United Way took to the stage to unveil the goals to enthusiastic applause from a room full of supporters.

"It's a significant goal; both the end of year goal of $1.275-million and the three year goal of $4-million. Achievable though for sure, vitally important for the fabric of the community and we're very excited about it."
