The Nuclear Waste Management Organization held an open house in their Clinton office last week.
Relationship Manager Paul Austin explains the open house was an opportunity to share information with anyone who had questions but also a chance to share the draft of a community profile.
The profile was created with the help of community members so they wanted confirmation that they were on the right track with that document.
Austin adds the questions they get from the public demonstrate safety is the main concern, adding the process is intentionally designed to take as long as it takes to get it right.
Austin says most people don't know much about the process of burying nuclear waste and he sees that as an opportunity to educate people who are looking for answers.
