New Plan to Guide Owen Sound into the Future

Owen Sound council has approved a new strategic plan to guide decision making for the next five years.

The plan, 2020 Making Our Vision Clear, was created over the last eight months with the help of Lura Consulting.

Over 800 people shared their vision for the city, priorities for the future, and what they love about their community.

The plan sets out four primary focus areas, 15 objectives, and 41 actions that will help guide council. The Mission Statement is "Strengthening our Community Through Sound leadership".

“The plan is a living document and will be reviewed on an annual basis. The established benchmarks and progress indicators will help to ensure that we remain on the right path over the next five years,” says City Manager Wayne Ritchie.

You can view a copy of the plan at the library, City Hall, and on the website, www.owensound.ca.

Council will receive annual report cards on efforts to implement the plan.

“This strategic plan is a blueprint that will help guide Owen Sound’s decision-making on programs, policies and community investments over the next five years,” says Mayor Ian Boddy. “It embodies the long-term vision, mission, and goals of Owen Sound’s residents and businesses, which are important to the future development of the city. I am proud of the fact that close to 800 people provided input to this plan.”
