Limited Damage After Wingham Retirement Home Fire

There were no injuries and limited damage after a fire at the Braemer Retirement Home in Wingham Thursday.

Fire crews were called to the Josephine St. N residence at around noon, to an electrical fire burning in the building's HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) room.

North Huron fire department officials say staff at the residence were able to evacuate all 73 residents in 11 minutes.

"We were there for about an hour and a half," Fire Chief Dave Sparling tells CKNX News. "We checked to make sure there was no fire damage beyond the room and checked for air quality to make sure there wasn't smoke moving through the building."
