Building activity in the Meaford-area continues to surpass last year.
During the first six months of this year, the Meaford Building Department issued 126 building permits with a total value of almost $9.1 million.
That represents an increase of almost 250 percent in building value over the $3.7 million for the same six-month period of last year.
And just last month, Meaford issued permits worth almost $1.8 million. That's up from the $1.7 million in building value over June of 2014.
Deputy Mayor Harley Greenfield pointed out that there were two permits issued for new homes this year - the same as last year - but the total value of the permits this year was $665 thousand. The value of the permits for the two new homes last year was $485 thousand.
