Goderich Man Arrested After Foot Chase

A Goderich resident faces nine criminal charges after he tried to flee from police early this morning.

Just after 8:00 a.m. a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling on Maitland Road when he observed a male trying to kick-start a dirt bike.

Upon approaching the dirt bike the officer noted the dirt bike did not have an attached licence plate and while speaking with the rider the officer determined the male in question had a valid warrant out for his arrest.

When the officer informed the male he was being placed under arrest, he started to walk away from the officer, then broke into a run.

The officer chased after the male for a short distance and just as the officer closed in; the fleeing male took his motorcycle helmet and swung it at the officer.

The officer was able to dodge the helmet and grab onto the male who continued to resist arrest before being subdued.

Upon searching the male the investigating officer found the male to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, a 'flick' knife and a BB gun.

Further investigation revealed the male was currently bound by several court imposed conditions of release.

As a result, 23-year-old, Tyler Million of Goderich has been charged with the following offences: Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest; Assault with a Weapon; Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon; Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine; Possession of a Schedule II Substance - Marijuana; Four counts of Fail to Comply with a Recognizance.
