Clarksburg Cat Shelter Needs New Home

Volunteers with the Clarksburg Cat Shelter are looking for a new home for the more than three dozen cats in their care.

The current landlord plans to use the building for other purposes, and the cat shelter has to relocate before the end of October.

What's needed is a building of 1,000 to 1,500 sq ft, with water, hydro, a large sink and a reliable heat source.

The shelter opened on the main street of Clarksburg ten years ago. Since then, it has provided a home for lost, abandoned and abused cats from the Clarksburg, Thornbury and Meaford area.

"We would be happy to move to a new place in any of these communities, preferably as close as possible to an urban area. We spay or neuter, vaccinate and provide vet care for all the cats that enter the shelter," says volunteer Kathie Decoste. "While we try to find a ‘forever’ home for each cat, some have special needs and are unlikely to be adopted, so they live out their lives in the shelter".

The cat shelter exists because of fundraising efforts and items that are sold at The Cat’s Meow in Meaford. Money also come from donations from the public.
