Two Grey County Students Up For Historic Recognition

Two Grey County elementary students are asking for your vote, as they attempt to win a spot in Canada's History Youth Forum in Ottawa this fall.

They are among 200 students from across the country competing in the National Young Citizens program.

The students created videos for the Grey Roots Heritage Fairs project.

Grade 6 student Paul Grein from St. Peter and St. Pauls School in Durham created a video, "Dief the Chief," that traces John Diefenbaker's origins from Neustadt to his contributions to the country.

Grade 7 student Robbie Hann from Sullivan Community School in Chatsworth immerses viewers in the Battle of the Atlantic, which includes a veteran of the conflict telling part of the Second World War story.

The deadline for voting is July 5th, at www.youngcitizens.ca.

The votes account for half of the mark for the projects
