Federal Funding For Kincardine Scottish Festival

With a week to go until the 2015 Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games, the festival is picking up some additional funding.

Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb announced the festival is receiving a $7,500 grant through the federal government's Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Lobb says the festival has proven to be a worthwhile investment for the government, pointing out they have granted $58,000 in total to the festival since 2011.

Festival chair Tony Doherty says it costs about $200,000 to run the Kincardine Scottish Festival, so any help they can receive is welcome.

"It's great to have the federal government finance something like this at the local level, particularly when we're trying to grow and become bigger and better, which we're trying to do, so it's very much appreciated," says Doherty.

The festival runs from July 3rd until July 5th and will feature headliners the Barra MacNeils and Ashley MacIsaac.
