Snowbirds Take To Goderich Sky Tonight

Canada's famous air demonstration team is in Goderich this evening, and one of the pilots will be flying over familiar landmarks.

Canadian Forces Snowbirds Captain Bart Postma grew up in the Clinton area and got his private pilot's licence in Goderich when he was 17.

Postma flew into Goderich ahead of the rest of the team so he could visit with family. He says flying with the Snowbirds has lived up to all of his expectations, and every show is a new experience as they study and improve each manoeuvre.

The Goderich and Region Airshow has a variety of static displays at the Goderich Airport from 11am to 3pm.

The first tandem jumps will get underway at 11am this morning, with the second tandem jumps scheduled for 12:30pm. The Skyhawks Jump takes place at 5pm.

There will be aerial performances at the Goderich Waterfront starting at 4pm, including The Canadian Armed Forces SkyHawks and the CF-18 demonstration.

The Snowbirds begin their aerial show at 6pm at the waterfront. It's choreographed to music, and the Snowbirds will perform more than 50 different formations and manoeuvres, including solo passes, rolls and loops, and their famous nine-plane formations.

The show is hosted by the Maitland Valley Air Cadets Association.
