Bluewater Sign Bylaw Updates Planned

The Mayor of Bluewater has suggested it might be time to update the municipality's sign bylaw.

The issue came up when some councillors mentioned the number of signs that seem to spring up every weekend, particularly in villages like Bayfield.

Tyler Hessel explains there is no sign bylaw for the entire municipality but there is a bylaw for Bayfield. But it hasn't been updated for six or seven years, and that's probably why it hasn't been enforced.

Hessel says a revised bylaw would have to be clear about what types of signs are allowed and they would have to get input from the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Heritage committee to be fair to everyone.

But he adds it should be revised and brought up to date before they start enforcing it.
