Grant Would Speed Replacement of Whitechurch Water System

Huron-Kinloss is looking to speed up the replacement of the water system in Whitechurch through a grant from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

Municipal staff are hoping to receive 50 per cent of the $800,000 project from the government as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary.

If implemented, the project would see the community’s water distribution system replaced and Whitechurch Street resurfaced.

Staff say funding would push up the project’s deadline from its proposed 2020 replacement date. Projects using Canada 150 funding must be completed by March of 2018.

Huron-Kinloss is also asking for money to build a bridge connecting two trails on either side of the Pine River and to renovate the Ripley arena.
