Tire Take Back Event For Sunshine Foundation

Any old tires on your property could help make a child's dreams come true.

This week marks the sixth annual Tire Take Back event, sponsored by the Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association.

The goal of the six-day event is to recycle thousands of used tires and also raise money for the Sunshine Foundation of Canada.

A donated passenger or light truck tire will generate about $1.70 for the Sunshine Foundation, and an agricultural tire will generate $6.00 per tire.

Over 60 OARA members and haulers are taking part, including locations in Exeter, Goderich, Kenilworth, St. Clements, Flesherton and Creemore.

Nancy Sutherland, CEO of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada says, "The OARA Tire Take Back program will have life-changing impact in the lives of children living with severe disabilities or life threatening illnesses while it makes environmental and economic impacts in communities throughout the province".

OARA Tire Take Back has funded two Sunshine DreamLifts, and countless Sunshine Dreams, the most recent Sunshine DreamLift in 2013 sending over 70 children to Disneyworld.

Between 2010 and 2014, $826,569 was raised with 329,471 tires recycled.
