Springmount Collision Suspects Still In Custody

The two occupants of a stolen pickup truck that was involved in a collision near Springmount last Thursday remain in police custody.

A Dodge Ram pickup, which had been reported stolen from Cayuaga, was spotted by an OPP officer on Hwy. 6 near Springmount.

The driver would not stop for police, and collided with another pickup in the intersection with Grey Road 17.

There were no serious injuries to the occupants in either of the pickups.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, 29-year-old James Joshua Corbett of Cayuga, is charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and driving while under suspension. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing May 25.

A passenger in the stolen vehicle, 20-year-old Jessy Gordon Mayes from the Township of Chatsworth, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.

Hayes is still in custody, waiting for a bail hearing tomorrow.
