Corey Conners Gets Second PGA Tour Invite

Listowel's Corey Conners will be back on the PGA Tour this weekend. The 23-year-old has been invited to participate in the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

His ticket comes through a sponsor invite and will be his second tour event since turning pro last month. He finished shy of the cut with a +5 combined score after two rounds in his professional debut at the RBC heritage.

This time around Conners thinks he can stick around the whole weekend.

"I've been playing great." He said. "I feel great about my game and I can compete at the big events and hopefully stay in contention."

Conners coming out party came at the 2015 edition of the Masters where he finished with the top score among all amateurs in the competition. From there he turned pro and an endorsement deal with Ping and invites to events followed.

"I've always dreamed of being a pro and now it's here and is my job now, I just want to stay sharp and make the most of it."

In order to stay sharp, Conners says he has been playing a great deal of practise rounds. He is not able to compete in ever PGA Tour event and says it is a bit of a change having to wait for the phone calls.

"It is tough to not be certain on when I can compete but it is up to me to be ready for any opportunity."

Conners will tee off at 8:50 A.M tomorrow in a field that includes 5 other Canadians. He will be in a group with Australian Cameron Percy and Steven Alker of New Zealand.
