University Group Helping Huron East Become Age Friendly

Students from the University of Waterloo are trying to help Huron East become more "age-friendly."

The study started six months ago, and the students have presented a summary to Huron East council.

They were able to point out specific issues, including transportation. There was also a recommendation to create a senior's advocacy group that could identify challenges.

Mayor Bernie MacLellan says they may not be able to solve all of the problems but he suspects there are little things that could be done to make Huron East a more accommodating community for seniors.

The university group will also help Huron East get into a study being conducted by the World Health Organization.
