Perth Wellington MPP Launches Petition Over High Electricity Rates
Perth Wellington’s MPP has launched a petition calling on the government to ensure affordable and reliable energy.
Randy Pettapiece says the recent announcement indicating another $137 increase for the average hydro bill next year has prompted him to take action.
His petition calls on the government to immediately implement policies to ensure families, farmers and businesses pay reasonable hydro bills.
He says electricity rates have tripled, and hydro bills are up 56% since the Liberals took office. He adds Ontario electricity costs are among the highest in North America.
He wants the government to hear from local residents about the impact of those high costs. He says he hears regularly from frustrated residents.
Pettapiece says he will introduce each completed petition at the Legislature, which will require a response within 24 business days.
Pettapiece’s petition is available on his website: www.pettapiece.ca/petitions.
Hard copies are also available in his office.
“The government must hear about how skyrocketing energy costs are affecting us in Perth-Wellington,” says Pettapiece. “I encourage everyone who is frustrated with their rising hydro bills to sign this petition so that I can continue to bring your concerns to the government’s attention.”
