Goderich Council Considers Going Paperless

Goderich council is taking another look at going paperless.

Councillor Matt Hoy had asked staff to re-visit the paperless possibility, suggesting that it was time to make the change and reduce the amount of paper that councillors have to deal with and then throw out.

Clerk Dwayne Evans is looking at options for electronic agendas and what other lower-tier councils are doing and what the county is doing.

Evans explains there are companies that provide that service but the town would have to purchase equipment and licence the software. He adds there would be savings, so he would have to evaluate the trade-off between additional cost and potential savings.

Evans says he hopes to bring more information back to council at its April 27 meeting.
