Kincardine Mayor Hopes To Resolve Bruce Telecom Sale Soon

The off-again, on-again Bruce Telecom sale raised a few sparks at last night's Kincardine council meeting.

The Competition Bureau nixed the sale to Eastlink last year because of area competition problems.

Last night, council was asked to allow Bruce Telecom staff to be involved in ongoing talks as the municipality tries to resurrect the Eastlink sale.

Councillor Randy Roppel says he has voted against the sale since day one. He says staff should not be involved and the board of directors should have the responsibility for negotiations.

Mayor Anne Eadie is hopeful the sale would be resolved, one way or the other, by the start of summer.
