Huron East Contest Promoting New Business

Huron East is trying something different to fill vacant storefronts in Brussels in Seaforth and help promote new business at the same time.

The municipality has launched a contest called 'Win This Space'.

Economic Development Officer Jan Hawley wants people interested in starting up a business to submit a business plan, and eventually present it to a panel of judges.

The winning entry would be awarded free rent for one year in a storefront in either Seaforth or Brussels.

The deadline for entries is four o'clock on April 29th. The top five entrants will present their plans to a panel of judges near the end of June.

Entries should be submitted to the Huron East municipal office in Seaforth.

Hawley adds the County of Huron, the Municipality of Huron East, the Seaforth and the Brussels Trusts and the Seaforth BIA have all put up funding for the project and the total prize package is worth about $9,000.
