Three Child-Luring Incidents In Perth County

Perth County OPP officers are currently investigating three separate unrelated on-line luring incidents reported by concerned parents.

Two of the incidents involve West Perth young people while the third involves a Perth East youth.

Police say in one instance, a child became separated from other members of an internet chat site and ended up in a private area of the chat room with an unknown person.

The child was subsequently asked for a naked picture of themself.

The other two investigations involve youth receiving messages through Google Plus - Hangouts, and a social message website where users are anonymous.

The messages urge the recipients to share sexually explicit images. The individual making the request purports to be a young person of similar age as the recipients.

The Perth County OPP with the assistance of the OPP Child Exploitation unit continues the investigation into these three incidents.

Parents are urged to keep open communication with their children, and to know which chat rooms or message boards they are visiting, and to whom they are talking.
