Grand Bend Tourism Operator Optimistic

The message that came out of a regional tourism conference in London was that this is the right time for tourism operators throughout Southwestern Ontario to be aggressive in marketing to the United States.

Natalie Core is the Marketing Manager for the Oakwood Resort in Grand Bend. She says keynote speaker Rob Taylor of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada urged tourism operators to approach their M-Ps for funding to help take advantage the biggest opportunity they've had in years to re-capture the American tourism markets.

Core points out the combination of the low Canadian dollar, low gas prices, and the fact that more Americans are getting passports is the perfect opportunity to re-gain what was once a major source of tourism dollars coming into our region.

Core adds Taylor pointed out that M-Ps are still working on the next Federal budget so now is the time to solicit funding support to help boost the economy in Southwestern Ontario.
