Ausable Bayfield Conservation Starts Watershed Outdoor Club

An Educator with the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority is starting a new club for children.

Denise Iszczuk says she hopes the Watershed Outdoor Club will encourage young people and families to explore nature, and appreciate the environment that surrounds them.

Iszczuk explains the Outdoors Club will meet once a month, some of them on professional development days and one in the March Break when kids might be looking for something to do.

She says the meetings will run from an hour and a half to two hours and include a number of conservation-related topics and activities.

More information and a schedule of meetings can be found on the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority web site.

Iszczuk adds research as shown connecting with nature improves children's science and math skills, increases their powers of observation as well as their imagination and motor skills.
