Investigation Continues Into Hanover Ice-Training Death

The Coroner's Office, the Ministry of Labour and Hanover police continue the investigation into yesterday's fatal ice-training exercise on the Saugeen River in Hanover.

Hanover police inspector Chris Knoll says 12 students and one instructor were in the fast flowing water when the victim became trapped under the ice.

Thirty-year-old Adam Brunt of Bowmanville, a Durham College firefighting student, got trapped under the ice for about 15 minutes before being rescued by Hanover firefighters.

He was rushed to Hanover Hospital, but died a short time later.

A post-mortem was scheduled for today.
