Grey County Reviews Economic Development Draft Plan

Grey County council got a look at a draft plan for economic development.

A consultant's report outlines broad steps the county can take to create business opportunities in the county and ensure current businesses remain healthy and expand.

Themes for action include ensuring infrastructure is in place, developing the workforce, and maximizing the tourism and agriculture sectors.

The draft report will be circulated to Grey County municipalities, businesses and organizations for comment. Eventually a more specific action plan will be created.

Consultant Eric McSweeney says it'll take a united effort to succeed.

"It's really about people, relationships, organizations coming together to partner to collaborate to create a positive economic environment for businesses to succeed and grow," said McSweeney.

Grey County commissioned the economic strategy plan at a cost of $60,000. Half of that was paid for by the province.
