Huron County's CAO Says Most Huron Homes Already Have Broadband

Local internet service providers in Huron County still have some concerns about a plan to bring high speed internet to all of the rural municipalities in southwestern Ontario.

The plan is being proposed by the Western Wardens Caucus but Huron's CAO says the goals don't necessarily match up Huron's objectives.

Specifically, Huron has received excellent service from its local service and all that remains is connections to the last mile, or very rural homes in the county.

Many of the other municipalities haven't reached that point and Huron County council does not want to bring larger national service providers in to do what local providers have already done.

Huron County also does not want to pay again for something it already has.

Orchard adds there are federal dollars available for the project and if Huron County can't come to an agreement with the rest of the Western Wardens Huron could apply for the funding on its own.
