Area Roads Reopened After Hectic Morning

Huron County OPP reopened Hwy. 8 around 11am this morning after two separate multi-vehicle collisions closed the road earlier in this morning.

The first collision was near Hensall Rd. The driver of a westbound SUV lost control of his vehicle trying to pass two vehicles.  The SUV rolled in the ditch. The lone occupant, a 46-year-old man from Waterloo, was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.

Near the same location less than ten minutes later, an eastbound Chevrolet Cobalt sideswiped two tractor-trailers that were westbound on Hwy. 8. The Cobalt was then hit by a vehicle that was following.

The woman driving the Cobalt was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

In the meantime, Hwy. 86 was closed from Listowel to Perth Rd. 153 for a couple of hours after a truck ended up in the ditch. It has since reopened.

Line 86 was also closed for a time near Wallenstein.

South Bruce OPP investigated four vehicle collisions overnight and early this morning, but there was only minor injures to one person.

In Dufferin County, a tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries this morning when his rig jack-knifed on Dufferin County Rd. 109 near Side Rd. 27-28 in Grand Valley and ended up in the ditch.
