Tough Job To Keep Increases Low In Morris-Turnberry

The mayor of Morris-Turnberry says this budget season may be a tough one. Councillors agreed last night to start budget deliberations on January 27.

Paul Gowing says with recent cuts in funding, it will be tough to keep taxes low

"The actual increase in residental was buffered by the changes of assessment in the different categories," says Gowing.  "We have experienced several cuts in transfers from the province.  We will also experience some increases in our budget that we have no control over."

Last year, taxes only went up by 0.2 per cent for residents of Morris-Turnberry.
