Grey Bruce Restaurant Inspection Reports On Line Soon

A new Grey-Bruce food inspection disclosure tool goes online later this week. It's called 'Check It!'.

It offers quick access to Public Health inspection reports of local food establishments.

Health units are required to make inspection results available to the public when requested. This information helps to increase awareness of safe food handling practices and to promote improved food safety standards.

The online 'Check It!' program will report on restaurants, cafeterias, deli's, grocery stores, bakeries, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and even hot dog carts and chip trucks.

'Check It!' can be found on health unit website on January 1st at http://www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca/FoodSafety/Disclosure_System.htm

Inspection results will be summarized into six categories:

-Refrigeration and freezer temperatures; -Cooking and hot holding temperatures; -Food protected from contamination; -Utensils and equipment properly cleaned and sanitized; -Food handler hygiene (including hand washing); -Premises clean and properly maintained.

The report will indicate if the premise was in compliance, improvement needed, or if the category was not applicable to that facility.
