There are strong indicators that Bruce Power will continue to be one of the leading economic drivers in this area in 2015.
In it's year end summary, the company listed it's Economic Impact Study as one of the highlights. The joint report with business and union partners outlined the jobs and billions of dollars in economic investment that refurbishing Bruce Power’s six remaining reactors would represent.
Bruce Power invested over $200 million in its reactors during three planned maintenance outages. The maintenance programs help to extend the life of the units.
Bruce Power signed a $300 million agreement with B&W Canada, which will see the Cambridge company supply services for all Bruce Power units to meet the company’s ongoing operational needs.
There was also an agreement to supply Cobalt-60 from the Bruce B reactors to an Ottawa-based company that sterilizes 40 per cent of the world’s single-use medical devices and equipment.
